I used to skip breakfast, thinking I’d save time or wasn’t that hungry in the morning. But by midday, I’d always feel sluggish, low-energy, and reaching for anything to keep me going. ⁠

Recently, I’ve been making an effort to take my nutrition more seriously - starting with breakfast.⁠ ⁠ I’m not a fan of sweet breakfast options, so I’ve turned to quick and savory choices that work for me:⁠ ⁠ ⁠

In a world that moves so fast, it's easy to forget one of the most powerful skills we have - the ability to truly listen. ⁠

So often, we’re caught up in sharing our own thoughts, opinions, and advice that we don’t stop to give someone the gift of undivided attention. But listening, real listening, is an act of love, connection, and understanding.⁠ ⁠ When we listen, we create space for others to be seen and heard. We let them know that their feelings, experiences, and ideas matter.⁠ ⁠ ⁠

Here’s what I’ve learned about the power of listening:⁠ ⁠
It Builds Stronger Relationships⁠ In my personal and professional life, I’ve found that the strongest connections aren’t built on what I say, but on how well I listen. Whether it’s with my daughter (who, let’s be honest, sometimes needs to vent) or with friends over dinner, taking the time to listen without jumping in creates a foundation of trust and respect.⁠ ⁠ ⁠

It Creates Understanding⁠ Listening allows us to step into someone else’s shoes and see the world from their perspective. As a mom to a teen, I’ve realized that instead of trying to solve every problem right away, sometimes my daughter just needs to know that I hear her. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠

It Empowers Others⁠ Listening gives people the courage to express themselves. We all want to feel heard and understood. When we offer our full attention, we show that we value their words and ideas. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠

It’s a Lifelong Practice⁠ Listening is an evolving skill. We’re all busy, and the temptation to multitask or rush through conversations is real. But making a conscious effort to pause, put the phone down, and tune into what someone is saying is a habit worth cultivating.⁠ ⁠ ⁠

👗 Wardrobe change-over: tackled my fall/winter closet and planned outfits, simplified my wardrobe, and donated what no longer serves me.⁠

💰 Family finances: creating a fresh budget, reviewing bank accounts, setting spending intentions, and checking in on our savings plan.⁠
⁠
🗓️ Planning for joy: sat down with my planner to map out simple pleasures and bigger adventures...from farmers’ market mornings to a weekend in Carmel.⁠
⁠
🍴 Kitchen + creative time: laid out new recipes for meal planning and fun family posts.⁠
⁠
🎨 Digital reset: reorganized Canva projects and photo folders - clearing out clutter and adding inspiration.⁠
⁠
💆‍♀️ Intentional self-care: daily walks, extra hydration, a nourishing skincare routine, and early nights with a good book.⁠

📝 Mind & heart: focusing on gratitude, setting personal goals, writing them down, and planning forward with intention.⁠

Friday night lights are back, and there's nothing like the energy of high school football! I love watching my daughter out on the field cheering for her school and I love seeing how happy she is! Please, do your self- checks, schedule your mammograms, and encourage the women you love to do the same. Early detection can save a life.

Taking my own advice. Getting back to basics and taking care of me. To be honest, I've let things slip regarding caring for me and it's time to take back "my time". I'm in a bit of a slump and will be taking some time away from social media. Oh, I'll still be posting...just a little less frequently. I'm diving back in to practicing yoga, journaling more, going to bed earlier and reading.⁠

Also on the horizon are a few changes to the Purposeful Planner. New pillars of content as I sway away from some topics and move on to new. I'm excited to freshen everything up, get down to basics, and bring in reality a little more! Meanwhile, I'm going to refresh, breath, and take care of me.⁠

We recently toured the USCGC Eagle while it was docked in San Diego. This Coastguard Sailing Ship is a 295 foot barque used as a training cutter for future officers of the United States Coast Guard. What an impressive ship! Just as impressive were the officers on board! We thoroughly enjoy seeing this magnificent ship. My daughter tells us now that she wants to be in the Coast Guard....we'll see how long this lasts! 🤣⁠

My doorkeeper, officemate, yoga partner, and copilot. She is silly, a cuddler, very farty, and an all-around good girl. We take our morning walks together and after that she's stuck like glue and never leaves my side! Winnie is the daughter of our girl Laila who passed away suddenly one year ago this Saturday. We will be giving extra snuggles and kisses as we remember her mama this week.⁠

Well, for starters, it's clean! I love taking a little time to fully clean my workspace. A clean space = a clear mind! I like my space because my husband built it, it's cozy, and has a place for all the books I love. I make sure I have calm music playing, good light, windows open for fresh air, and everything is in its place. It's a far cry from the cubicle I had in the sales pit when I worked in media advertising!⁠
