That's where weekly planning comes in. Weekly planning is a strategic approach to organizing your time and priorities over the course of a week. It's about taking a step back, gaining perspective, and setting yourself up for success in the days ahead.⁠

Here are a few key steps to kickstart your weekly planning journey:⁠

Set Aside Time: Designate a specific day and time each week to devote to your planning. Treat it as a non-negotiable appointment with yourself, just like you would any other important commitment. I usually find quiet time on Sunday to make my weekly plan.⁠

Reflect and Review: Take some time to review the previous week. What went well? What didn't go as planned? Use this to plan your goals and priorities for the week ahead.⁠

Identify Priorities: What are the most important tasks and goals you want to accomplish in the coming week? Make a list of your priorities, keeping in mind both professional and personal commitments.⁠

Break it Down: Once you've identified your priorities, break them down into smaller, actionable steps. This will make them feel more manageable and help prevent overwhelm.⁠

Schedule Your Tasks: Take out your calendar or planner and allocate specific time blocks for each task or activity. Be realistic about how much time each task will take, and don't forget to include buffer time for the unexpected.⁠

Getting my teen to clean her room is like negotiating peace talks with laundry piles and snack wrappers. I get it, our teens are busy with school, sports, homework, and social life. It's not easy for the teen mind to set time aside for such a boring task.⁠

But here’s the thing… I’m not doing this just to make the bed look pretty or keep the laundry off the floor (okay, maybe a little). I want her to understand that a clean, uncluttered space isn’t about perfection, it’s about peace.⁠

#1 Less mess = less stress.⁠
#2 A tidy space helps her focus better.⁠
#3 It teaches responsibility and respect for her belongings.⁠
#4 And - maybe most importantly, it sets the tone for how she manages her own space and time as she grows.⁠

I’m learning to pick my battles, but this one still matters. So, I’m staying consistent, offering support, and setting clear expectations (even if it takes a few deep breaths and a closed door to get there).⁠
